Oleksandr Kolosii proudly presents his new project, bringing together four outstanding musicians for the recording of his new album. The band features internationally acclaimed artists who are significant figures on the European and American jazz scenes.
Doug Weiss, based between Berlin and New York, has been an acoustic bassist for 30 years and has been a member and musical director of the Al Foster Quartet since 1996.
He is also a member of Brian Blade’s Lifecycles and Fellowship, the Peter Bernstein Quartet, and the Seamus Blake Group.
Oleksandr Kolosii, based in Aalborg, is a tenor saxophonist and lead alto saxophonist of Nordkraft Big Band. He has performed at prestigious festivals including Blue Note Jazz Competition, Elbjazz, Vinterjazz, Copenhagen Jazz Festival, and Aarhus Jazz Festival, as well as at leading jazz venues across Europe. Throughout his career, Oleksandr has collaborated with world-class musicians including Alex Sipiagin, Donald Edwards, Doug Weiss, Matt Penman, JK Kim, Anders Mogensen, Anders Christiansen (AC), Lorenz Kellhuber, and Carl Winther. His distinctive musical voice combines the tradition of bebop and straight-ahead jazz with contemporary world-jazz textures.
Sasha Mashin, based in Rome, is one of the most vibrant drummers on the European jazz scene. He currently performs with artists including Rosario Giuliani, Wayne Escoffery, and Alex Sipiagin.
Jordan Corda, a vibraphonist from Cagliari and based in Rome, actively collaborates with internationally renowned musicians including Luca Mannutza, Sasha Mashin, Max Ionata, and Paolo Recchia. He has performed at prestigious Italian and international festivals such as Pescara Jazz, Time in Jazz, Sarabski Music Festival in Azerbaijan, Il Jazz Italiano per le Terre del Sisma, and Jazz’n Fall.
The new project presents Oleksandr’s original music, deeply rooted in contemporary jazz while exploring modern world-jazz textures, rhythms, and global influences.
